PeaceWomen Across the Globe focuses on networking between PeaceWomen, promoting women's engagement for justice and sustainability, and making the work of PeaceWomen visible. These are done both regionally and internationally.
With the program «Redefining Peace – Women Lead the Way» PeaceWomen Across the Globe appeals to peace experts on site accompanying and supporting their work. This program consists of projects in different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Asia within two thematic strands:
The projects in «Conflict Transformation, Peace & Justice» strand promote women's participation in peace processes with a focus on the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions on women, peace and security (especially 1325).
The «Livelihoods & Ecological Justice» strand brings forward women’s concepts on ecological security and livelihood, focusing on peace relevance and gender impact.
Our program «Visibility & Connectivity» seeks to increase the visibility of the millions of women who work daily for peace and justice but tend to remain unrecognized and, to improve the connections among them.
PeaceWomen Across the Globe also has succeeded in bringing the achievements of these women closer to thousands of people across the world through its exhibition «1000 PeaceWomen Across the Globe», which portrays the PeaceWomen on 1000 postcards.
For the 10th Anniversary of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on «Women, Peace and Security», PeaceWomen Across the Globe created the exhibition and DVD «No Women – No Peace» to demonstrate the importance of women in peace processes and demand the implementation of this resolution.
«Visionews» is a global media cooperation project of OWEN with Inter Press Service Germany and its sponsor association Global Cooperation Council, PeaceWomen Across the Globe and the German Women´s Security Council. It is a worldwide archive and database of good practices on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and can be used by non-governmental organisations, women’s peace groups, and anyone interested.
