PeaceWoman Aleta Baun receives «Goldman Environmental Prize»

Aleta Baun, an activist who led a movement to block a destructive mine in a remote part of Indonesia, was awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize, the top honor for grassroots environmental campaigners. By organizing hundreds of local villagers to peacefully occupy marble mining sites in «weaving protests», Aleta Baun stopped the destruction of sacred forestland on Mutis Mountain.  >> more
