María Elena Curbelo es una médica pediatria que trabaja con niñ@s discapacitad@s y de bajo paso. Su marido, su familia y comprometidos colaboradores, la ayudan en su tarea. La técnica que utiliza es la equinoterapia.
Varias familias de Bella Unión participaron de nuestra celebración y algun@s niñ@s bailaron e hicieron posters acerca de los derechos humanos fundamentales. En el encuentro, María Elena Curbelo habló sobre el trabajo que ella, junto con sus colaboradores, llevaron a cabo durante 2010 y posteriormente, María Julia Moreyra, Coordinadora Regional para América Latina y el Caribe de PWAG, se refirió a Mujeres de Paz en el Mundo y las razones que condujeron a qué celebráramos este importante día en Bella Unión. Mónica Vazquez, integrante de la Oficina Regional para América Latina y el Caribe, PWAG, entregó a l@s niñ@s que participaron del Encuentro, presentes navideños.

International Human Rights Day
Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office, Peace Women Across the Globe (PWAG) celebrated Human Rights’ International Day with children and members of “Retoño de Lucha y Sueños”, an organization in charge of PeaceWoman from Uruguay María Elena Curbelo.
María Elena Curbelo is a pediatrician who works with disabled and low weight children. Her husband, her family and devoted collaborators help her. They work with equine therapy.
Several families from Bella Unión (Uruguay) attended our celebration and some children danced and made posters where they highlighted fundamental human rights. María Elena Curbelo talked about the work she, along with her collaborators, performed during 2010 and later, María Julia Moreyra, Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Coordinator, PWAG, referred to PeaceWomen Across the World and the reasons which led us to celebrate this important day in Bella Unión. Mónica Vazquez, from Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office, Peace Women Across the Globe, gave Christmas presents to the children who attended the celebration.
