Goals and Approaches
The activities of PeaceWomen Across the Globe PWAG focus on strengthening links between women peace activists, supporting their work by providing them with practical tools, and making their commitment visible. The PWAG projects, campaigns and publications pursue the main goals.
- PROMOTING THE PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN
Goal: Women will become decision-makers on all levels of society and politics.
In particular, they will be actively involved in efforts to protect or restore peace and the rule of law.
Approach: In order to strengthen the participation of women, PWAG initiate and coordinate networks that enable peace activists to share their experiences with each other and conduct projects aimed at developing prospects for sustainable peace, like the Women's PeaceTables programe.
- ENCOURAGING WOMEN TO GET INVOLVED IN PEACE WORK
Goal: Women's peace work will be well documented and accessible to a wide audience.
Potential female peace activists will be motivated by good examples. There will be positive chain reactions as a result of women's peace work being made visible.
Approach: By focusing our reporting and documentation on what women have achieved and on the developments initiated by women that led to peace, women all over the world are encouraged to get involved in political and social processes. The work of the 1000 PeaceWomen and of a new generation of dedicated women is an inspiration to PWAG.
PWAG use the following means to strengthen women peace activists and make their work visible: the newsletter, which is published twice a year; the annual report; traveling exhibitions and social media.
